Job Role: Residential Support Worker - Solo placement, 2:1 staffing
Location: Bilston
Pay: £13.25 - £14.25 depending on experience
At Stepping Stones Care, we are opening our newest home! This home will be a solo placement home in Bilston, Wolverhampton, and we are building the team from scratch.
One young person will live here, supported by two staff at all times. The young people we will care for will have been through a great deal, and their behaviour can be complex and at times very challenging. Some will have moved through several placements before reaching us. Our home exists so that stops happening.
This is not a role for everyone, and we would rather be straight with you now than a few months into the role. There will be difficult shifts. There will be aggression, distress and days where nothing seems to be progressing. There will also be moments you remember for years.
If you are the sort of person who stays calm when things get loud, and can remain kind, patient and resilient, we want to hear from you.
You do not need children’s home experience
What we care about is whether you have worked with challenging behaviour somewhere and handled it well.
That could be:
- Secure services, custody, prison or youth offending
- SEN or specialist education, PRUs or alternative provision
- CAMHS, inpatient or community mental health
- Learning disability or autism services
- Supported living or adult social care
- Hospital, ambulance or emergency services
- The armed forces
- Youth work with high-risk young people
If none of those describe you but you know you have the temperament for this, apply and tell us why.
If you have the resilience and personality for this role, we can train you in everything else.
What’s in it for you
