We offer a great opportunity to join our team working within the environmental industry as a Rig Operator. You would be responsible in the machinery and processes that clean wastewater so it can be safely returned to the environment. you are responsible for monitoring equipment, reporting feed samples, and performing maintenance to ensure compliance with strict environmental regulations.
Core Responsibilities
Monitoring and Control: Operating and adjusting pumps, valves, gates, and automated systems to manage the flow of sewage through the plant.
Process Management: Overseeing biological, chemical, and physical treatment stages, including screening, aeration, and sludge removal.
Testing and Compliance: Collecting and testing sewage samples, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, and toxicity to ensure treated feed meets environmental permit standards.
Maintenance and Repair: Cleaning tanks, filters, and screens, as well as performing preventive maintenance on machinery to prevent breakdowns.
Documentation: Keeping accurate logs of operational data, chemical usage, and test results.
Working Conditions and Requirements
Environment: The work can be wet, dirty, and smelly, often requiring work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Schedule: Plants operate 24/7, necessitating shift work, weekends, and on-call rotations.
Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols is required, including working in confined spaces, at heights, and with hazardous chemicals.
Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills, numeracy, and problem-solving abilities.
Training: Mostly on-the-job training, often involving shadowing experienced colleagues
