We are working with an established elderly care provider seeking an experienced Registered Home Manager to lead a 60-bed nursing home near Stevenage.
We are looking for a capable and commercially aware leader who can quickly understand the current position, take ownership of the service and build on what is already in place. The successful candidate will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, engage and develop the existing team and implement sustainable improvements that continue to move the home forward.
Key Responsibilities
Take overall responsibility for the operational and clinical leadership of a 60-bed elderly nursing home.
Lead, develop and engage the staff team, creating a positive and accountable culture.
Drive improvements in quality, governance and CQC compliance, ensuring robust systems and processes are embedded throughout the home.
Review current agency usage and implement effective recruitment, retention and workforce planning strategies to reduce reliance on temporary staffing.
Maintain and build upon the home's strong occupancy levels whilst ensuring an excellent experience for residents and their families.
Identify areas for improvement and implement sustainable changes that positively impact care quality, compliance and overall operational performance.
Provide strong clinical oversight and ensure residents receive safe, effective and person-centred care.
Work closely with senior management to deliver the home's financial and commercial objectives.
Build positive relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and the wider local community.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience as a Registered Home Manager within elderly nursing care would be highly advantageous.
Strong Deputy Managers who can clearly demonstrate their readiness to step into their first Home Manager position will also be considered.
Nurse qualified, holding either an RGN or RMN registration.
Strong clinical and operational leadership experience.
A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
Experience of improving CQC compliance and implementing effective quality improvement plans would be advantageous.
Experience of reducing agency usage and improving workforce stability would be beneficial.
Commercially aware, with an understanding of occupancy, staffing and overall home performance.
A confident and accountable leader who is able to take ownership, make decisions and drive positive change.

Established 60-bed elderly nursing service.
Current occupancy of approximately 94%.
Current CQC rating of Requires Improvement.
Clear opportunity to build upon the home's existing strengths and drive further improvements.
Approximately 150 hours of agency currently being used, providing an opportunity to improve workforce stability and reduce temporary staffing.

Location
The home is located near Stevenage and is commutable from St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Luton and the surrounding North London and Hertfordshire areas
