Are you a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Chalk Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in The Wirral on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, struggle with emotional regulation, or require additional support to engage positively within the classroom environment. You will provide both one-to-one and small group support, helping students to develop their confidence, resilience, and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies.
- Encourage positive social and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and record student progress and behavioural outcomes.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is essential.
- Experience working within a school, alternative provision, or youth support setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
