Position of the Role
The Baby Unit Lead Coordinator is a newly created role within Emmy’s Day Nursery and is separate from the existing Baby Room Leader position.
The role has been created to provide additional experience, leadership capacity and support as our baby provision continues to develop and grow.
The Baby Unit Lead Coordinator will work alongside and collaboratively with the Baby Room Leader/Deputy, Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager and wider leadership team.
The Baby Room Leader will continue in her existing position and retain her Room Leader responsibilities. The appointment of a Baby Unit Lead Coordinator does not replace, remove or reduce the Baby Room Leader role.
The Baby Unit Lead Coordinator will have a broader coordinating and quality-support function, including:
- Supporting consistency and quality across the baby provision.
- Mentoring and developing practitioners.
- Supporting the Baby Room Leader with the day-to-day operation of the room where required.
- Providing additional senior leadership presence within the baby provision.
- Supporting staff training and development.
- Supporting transitions, settling-in and the development of the baby provision.
- Working with the wider leadership team on quality improvement and nursery development.
- Providing appropriate cover and leadership support during staff absence, annual leave or other periods when additional senior support is required.
The role is intended to strengthen the existing baby team and provide additional leadership capacity, rather than duplicate or replace the responsibilities of the Baby Room Leader.
