We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking assistant for our Weymouth kitchen team.
Local Food Links supplies hot and chilled meals to primary schools across Dorset, (and one delivery to Devon), from 3 hub kitchens in Bridport, Blandford and Weymouth. Every meal is freshly made and wherever possible the ingredients are locally sourced. Meals are compliant with the School Food Standards and allergen legislation.
Responsibilities:
- To work as part of the kitchen team but also to be self-reliant and able to work alone.
- To ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen at all times.
- To clean the hub including the changing room areas and toilets.
- To process the laundry (t-towels, oven cloths etc.)
- To assist with the preparation of fresh vegetables and ingredients.
- To comply with all kitchen policies and procedures, including (but not exhaustively) HACCP and COSHH.
- To actively engage with LFL’s induction, probation and appraisal processes and to attend staff meetings and training courses as required.
- To ensure the Company's standards are adhered to and to be an ambassador for LFL.
Duties include:
- Clearing away and washing up.
- Cleaning of the kitchen, stores, chemical and delivery areas and cleaning and sanitizing returned containers.
- Cleaning of the changing room areas and toilets.
- Weighing and preparation of ingredients.
- Checking and recording orders and temperatures of deliveries and food.
- Portioning, packing and loading meals in line with procedures.
- Timely and accurate completion of administration documents
- To collect kitchen supplies as directed by the Kitchen Manager or Deputy Kitchen Manager.
- To occasionally assist with the delivery of a meal.
- To support all members of the kitchen team in meals production.
- Anything else as reasonably requested by the Kitchen Manager, Deputy KM or Cooks.
