We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and are committed a culture where concerns are identified early, acted upon appropriately and where the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk remains paramount.
We are now seeking a passionate and dedicated Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join our team and play a key role in strengthening safeguarding practice across all Tigers Trust programmes, projects and activities.
Key accountabilities of the role:
Safeguarding Leadership and Case Management
- Support the Head of Community, Engagement and Safeguarding in the delivery and oversight of safeguarding arrangements across Tigers Trust.
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), providing operational safeguarding support and deputising for the Head of Community, Engagement and Safeguarding when required.
- Receive, record, assess and manage safeguarding and welfare concerns relating to children, young people and adults at risk in accordance with organisational policies and statutory guidance.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and GDPR-compliant safeguarding records using approved case management systems.
- Support referrals to and liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies, ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken to safeguard individuals.
- Monitor safeguarding cases and action plans, ensuring effective follow-up and positive outcomes for participants.
Welfare and Wellbeing
- Promote the welfare, wellbeing and personal development of children, young people and adults at risk engaged in Tigers Trust programmes.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to participants, families, staff and volunteers on safeguarding and welfare matters.
- Work collaboratively with programme teams to identify and support individuals who may require additional intervention or support.
- Contribute to the development of inclusive, safe and supportive environments across all Tigers Trust activities.
Partnership Working
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with participants, parents, carers, schools, colleges, local authorities, Police and other external agencies.
- Work collaboratively with partner organisations to ensure coordinated support for children, young people and adults at risk.
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings where appropriate, representing Tigers Trust professionally and effectively.
Safeguarding Compliance and Governance
- Support the implementation, review and continuous improvement of safeguarding policies, procedures and practices across Tigers Trust.
- Assist in preparing safeguarding reports, audits, action plans and compliance documentation.
- Monitor adherence to safeguarding standards, legislation and best practice guidance.
- Support safeguarding quality assurance processes and contribute to organisational safeguarding objectives.
Training, Education and Culture
- Support the delivery and promotion of safeguarding awareness, education and learning opportunities for staff, volunteers, participants and families.
- Encourage and promote a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
- Provide guidance on safer working practices and professional boundaries.
- Support the induction and ongoing safeguarding development of staff and volunteers.
Safer Recruitment
- Support safer recruitment processes, including DBS administration, verification and record management.
- Assist managers in ensuring recruitment practices meet safeguarding and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion elements of recruitment and selection processes.
Operational Support
- Support the planning and delivery of safeguarding arrangements for trips, events, residentials, community activities and off-site programmes.
- Assist in completing safeguarding risk assessments and ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Support staff undertaking home visits, one-to-one meetings and outreach activities.
- Ensure safeguarding considerations are embedded within programme planning and delivery operations.
- Support the planning and delivery of safeguarding arrangements on matchdays, acting as a visible safeguarding presence, responding to welfare concerns and ensuring appropriate safeguarding procedures are implemented and followed by staff, volunteers and partners.
General Responsibilities

- Undertake relevant safeguarding training and continuous professional development.
- Maintain professional standards, confidentiality and ethical practice at all times.
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the nature and level of the role as reasonably required by the Head of Community, Engagement and Safeguarding.
