We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Accrington team in the position of Kiln Burner.
The role holder will play an active part in both the drying and Kiln firing process, to continuously monitor both Kiln and Dryer temperatures and push rates in order to ensure product conformity in size, strength, absorption and colour, output and quality targets.
Shift Pattern: 4on4off (12hrs Days & Nights)
Your duties would include but not limited to the following:
When entering any guarded area relevant safe work procedure must be adhered to.
- Periodically visually monitor all kilns acknowledging and recording temperatures where and when necessary.
- Replenish pea gravel hoppers as and when required.
- To periodically check tunnel kiln for Split packs and flame impingement.
- To periodically check and re-instate all failed burners.
- Rectify all stoppages asking for maintenance/electrical assistance when needed.
- Ensure all P.P.E is worn at all times when carrying out duties.
- Align and re-align all brick ties by using working platform.
- Remove all debris from tunnel kiln cars, straightening, checking and replacing deck blocks.
- Standing on the kiln cars is not allowed unless in their designated areas.
- When carrying out duties ensure relevant safe work procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure all designated housekeeping duties are carried out as and when required.
- Report all irregularities/health & safety issues to shift supervisor/maintenance personnel and management
- To constantly monitor each stage of the process.
- Rectify all stoppages/malfunctions asking for assistance when needed.
- Conduct and record relevant environmental data.
About You:
The job requires no formal education or qualifications, the role does require a minimum of 3 months training from a competent Operator ensuring close supervision during the period, a competency check procedure carried out on all tasks.
