Reporting to the Commercial & Operations Manager, you will provide Denstone College transport for pupils during term time in a safe, professional, and efficient manner. You will be responsible for the pupils in your vehicle, acting as a representative of the College, and ensuring that all health and safety procedures are strictly followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving the morning and afternoon school runs to and from Denstone College.
- Exercising a strict duty of care by ensuring seatbelts are worn at all times, supervising passengers as they get on and off the minibus safely, and enforcing a one-person-per-seat rule to prevent overloading.
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks prior to starting any journey, which includes checking for a first aid kit and fire extinguisher, and ensuring all gangways are clear of obstruction.
- Carrying out routine weekly maintenance on the vehicles, including washing down, checking fluid levels, and maintaining general cleanliness and roadworthiness.
- Refuelling the vehicles as required from the account held at Rocester garage.
- Removing all occupants to safety as per Health & Safety procedures in the event of a vehicle breakdown.
- Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons.
- Maintaining regular, consistent, and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
- Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with residents, staff, pupils, contractors, and other guests.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: A full, clean UK Driving Licence with the D1 category is required. You must disclose any medical problems or penalty points as they occur, and you will be responsible for any speeding fines or parking tickets incurred whilst in charge of the vehicle.
- Experience: Previous experience driving a minibus and experience driving or working with children is desired.
- Skills: You must have the ability to drive safely and calmly with potential distractions, conduct basic vehicle checks, and manage your time effectively. Clear, polite, and effective communication skills are essential.
- Personal Attributes: We are looking for an individual with a friendly, approachable, 'can-do' attitude who demonstrates a high standard of professionalism. You must be committed to continued professional development and have a clear understanding of safeguarding children and health and safety.
