We’re looking for a confident, motivated and highly organised Supervisor to join our Clean Rivers & Seas (CR&S) team, supporting delivery across Kent and Sussex.
This role is about people, organisation and delivery. We’re not looking for someone who necessarily comes from a civils or technical background. We’re looking for someone with the right attitude who can lead people, communicate well, stay ahead of what is happening and make sure our teams and subcontractors are delivering what is expected.
They need to be comfortable taking ownership, speaking up when something isn’t right and pushing things forward when needed.
Vacancy Introduction
As Supervisor, you will be responsible for helping drive the day-to-day delivery of our Survey & Discovery programme.
You will work closely with our working supervisors, operational teams and subcontractors, making sure resources are in the right place, work is progressing and any issues that could affect delivery are picked up and dealt with early.
The technical knowledge will sit with the working supervisors and technical members of the team. Your role is to keep the whole operation moving.
You will need to understand what each team is doing, where they should be, what is coming next and whether we have the people, vehicles, equipment and subcontractor support required to deliver it.
You will also work closely with the Project Manager, planning team and other stakeholders to make sure there is clear communication between the office and site.
What We’re Looking For
More than anything, we’re looking for the right person with the right attitude.
You need to be someone who naturally takes ownership, is organised, thinks ahead and is comfortable managing different people and priorities at the same time.
You will need to be able to build good relationships with the teams while also being confident enough to challenge, push and hold people accountable when required.
Essential Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
Confident managing and motivating multiple teams.
Excellent communication skills at all levels.
Highly organised and able to think ahead.
Able to manage several workstreams and changing priorities at the same time.
Comfortable challenging people and pushing delivery when required.
Able to manage and coordinate subcontractor resources.
Good problem-solving skills and able to make sensible decisions.
Proactive rather than waiting to be told what needs doing.
Confident using Microsoft Office, including Excel, and comfortable working with digital systems.
Able to maintain accurate records and keep management updated on progress and issues.
Strong understanding of the importance of health, safety and quality.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience & Qualifications
There is no requirement for previous Civils Supervisor experience. Previous experience managing people, teams, resources or operations would be beneficial, but attitude, leadership ability, organisation and communication are more important than having a traditional civils background.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to take a key position within a growing Survey & Discovery operation delivering Clean Rivers & Seas projects across Kent and Sussex.
You will have the opportunity to make the role your own, work closely with the management and technical teams and have a real influence on how effectively the programme is delivered.
We want someone who will take ownership, stay ahead of the work, drive the teams and help us keep the whole operation moving in the right direction.
Please note that we drug and alcohol test all new starters as part of their induction, whilst also carrying out a DBS check.
