Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Therapist to join our Bedford team. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills and a solid understanding of oral and dental anatomy to support our patients' oral health and overall dental care journey. As a Dental Therapist, you will assess patient needs, deliver preventive and restorative treatment within your scope of practice, and work closely with our dentists and hygienists to provide comprehensive, high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify patients' oral health needs
- Deliver treatments within scope of practice, including scaling, polishing, fissure sealants, fillings, and preventive care
- Develop and support personalised care plans based on individual patient needs and goals
- Monitor patient progress and liaise with dentists on treatment planning as required
- Collaborate with dentists, hygienists, and the wider practice team to provide joined-up, comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation and patient records
- Educate patients and their families on oral hygiene, treatment options, and preventive self-care
- Stay current with developments in dental therapy through ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- GDC-registered Dental Therapist with a recognised qualification in dental therapy
- Strong understanding of oral and dental anatomy and physiology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build genuine rapport and demonstrate empathy with patients, including nervous or anxious patients
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied patient caseload effectively
- Previous experience in a dental practice setting is an advantage, though not essential
