Learning Support Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs to achieve their full potential?
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming and collaborative specialist school in the Fareham area.
The setting supports pupils and students with a wide range of additional and special educational needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The provision caters for children and young people across a broad age range, creating a truly diverse and rewarding environment.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop their independence and build confidence. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide individualised support that reflects each young person's needs and abilities.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group learning support
- Supporting pupils with their educational, social and emotional development
- Helping young people to develop independence and life skills
- Following individual learning and support plans
- Supporting communication and engagement in lessons and activities
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Building positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
- Promoting a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, caring and nurturing
- Enthusiastic about working with children and young people with additional needs
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a team
- Calm, adaptable and able to respond to individual needs
- Committed to promoting inclusion, independence and positive outcomes
Experience working with MLD, SLD, PMLD, autism or other complex learning needs would be highly beneficial, although a positive attitude and genuine commitment to supporting young people are equally important.
