Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Learner Mentor to support learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). In this vital role, you will work closely with students who have diverse learning requirements, including autism and other disabilities, to promote their educational development, social skills, and overall well-being. Duties
- Provide tailored support to learners with SEND, including those with autism and other disabilities, to facilitate their engagement in educational activities
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies
- Support learners with toddler care routines, ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional well-being throughout the day
- Use effective communication skills to foster positive relationships with learners, colleagues, and families
- Observe and monitor student progress, documenting developments and any concerns for review by the teaching team
- Create a nurturing environment that encourages social interaction, independence, and confidence among learners
- Participate in training sessions on special education practices to continually enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is essential
- Prior teaching or mentoring experience within special education settings is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience working with children, including toddlers, in educational or care environments
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with learners, staff, and families
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques
- Ability to adapt support strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Enthusiasm for fostering inclusive learning environments that promote growth and independence
