We are currently looking for caring, reliable and compassionate Health Care Assistants to join our domiciliary care team covering the Havering area.
About the Role
As a Domiciliary Health Care Assistant, you will visit individuals within their own homes and provide care and support in accordance with their individual care plans, assessed needs and personal preferences.
The level of support required will vary between individuals. You may support people with personal care, medication, mobility, nutrition, household tasks, companionship and other aspects of daily living.
You will be expected to promote independence wherever possible while maintaining the dignity, privacy, safety and wellbeing of every individual you support.
As this is a community-based domiciliary care position involving travel between service users' homes, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own suitable and reliable vehicle for work purposes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Domiciliary Health Care Assistant, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing high-quality, person-centred care within service users' own homes.
- Supporting individuals with personal care, including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming and continence care where required.
- Supporting individuals to maintain their independence and complete daily living activities.
- Assisting with mobility, transfers and repositioning in accordance with care plans, risk assessments and Moving & Handling guidance.
- Supporting with medication in accordance with the individual's care plan, your assessed competency and KASE Care procedures.
- Preparing meals, drinks and snacks and supporting individuals with eating and drinking where required.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Supporting individuals to access their local community, appointments and activities where required.
- Completing light domestic tasks where these form part of the agreed care plan.
- Observing and reporting changes in a service user's physical or emotional wellbeing.
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and agreed support instructions.
- Maintaining accurate, timely and professional electronic care records.
- Reporting concerns, incidents, accidents or changes in circumstances promptly.
- Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns in accordance with KASE Care procedures.
- Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with service users and their families.
- Communicating professionally with service users, relatives, colleagues, healthcare professionals and management.
- Respecting the privacy, dignity, culture, beliefs, choices and preferences of every person supported.
- Following KASE Care policies, procedures and expected standards of conduct at all times.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
✓ Hold a full UK driving licence
✓ Have access to their own reliable vehicle for work purposes
✓ Be willing and able to travel between service users' homes throughout the Havering area
✓ Have appropriate motor insurance permitting business use where required
✓ Have good verbal and written communication skills
✓ Be able to communicate effectively with service users, families, colleagues and other professionals
✓ Be able to accurately read and follow care plans and instructions
✓ Be able to complete clear and accurate care records
✓ Be reliable, punctual and able to manage travelling between scheduled visits
✓ Demonstrate a caring, compassionate and respectful approach
✓ Understand the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries
✓ Understand safeguarding and the responsibility to report concerns
✓ Be willing to undertake all mandatory training and competency assessments required for the role
✓ Hold an appropriate Enhanced DBS or be willing to undertake the required DBS process through KASE Care
Experience
Previous experience within domiciliary care, healthcare or social care would be beneficial.
However, applicants who demonstrate the appropriate values, communication skills, reliability and willingness to learn may also be considered, subject to successful completion of KASE Care's recruitment, induction, training and competency requirements.
Experience supporting older people, individuals with disabilities, individuals with long-term health conditions or people requiring assistance with daily living would be advantageous.

Working in Domiciliary Care
This is a community-based role and successful applicants should understand that they may be required to travel between a number of service users during a working day.
Visits may take place during:
- Mornings
- Daytime
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Bank holidays
Availability will be discussed as part of the recruitment process and shifts will be offered according to service requirements and individual availability.

Mandatory Induction
All successful applicants are required to complete KASE Care's mandatory two-day induction programme as part of the onboarding process.
The induction is designed to ensure new colleagues understand their responsibilities and are appropriately prepared to work safely within our services.
The programme includes:
- English and Maths/Medication assessments
- Introduction to KASE Care, our values and expected standards
- Overview of CQC requirements and responsibilities
- Safeguarding and compliance
- Record keeping and documentation
- Introduction to our electronic care systems
- Verification of onboarding documentation and identification
- Introduction to relevant policies and procedures
- Basic Life Support
- First Aid
- Moving & Handling
- Introduction to the KASE Care management team
Attendance on both induction days is mandatory.
Further training and competency assessments will be arranged according to the requirements of the role and the needs of the individuals being supported.
