Nursery Chef
Level 2 in Food & Hygiene preferred.
Both newly qualified and experienced chefs welcome.
Hours: Part Time- 3 days per week to include Wednesday, Thursday, Friday for up to 24 hours per week with scope to increase in the future.
An exciting position has become available for a part-time Nursery Chef/Cook based at Tiddlywinks Private Day Nursery in York. Do you have experience of working within a kitchen and a good knowledge of preparing and cooking?
We are currently recruiting for an amazing opportunity for a Nursery Chef/Cook to work in our friendly and nurturing private day nursery. The perfect candidate will have a kind and friendly manner with a warm approach to running the Nursery kitchen providing all the children with nutritional meals.
The successful candidate will work Part-time on a Thursday and Friday for up to 16 hours per week, with scope to increase.
The successful candidate will earn between £12.71- £15.00 per hour depending on qualification and experience.
Role Requirements
- Ideally, you will be qualified in Food Preparation/Hygiene with the commitment to train in Food Hygiene.
- You must be committed to protect children from harm through following safeguarding procedures and ongoing professional development.
- Assisting with the daily preparation and serving of all the nursery meals.
- Working within a busy kitchen.
- Checking all food allergies and dietary needs at all times.
- Cleaning and servicing the kitchen equipment.
- Assisting with weekly orders and maintenance of kitchen supplies.
- Working as part of the nursery team.
Role Responsibilities
- Producing nutritionally balanced meals and snacks.
- Ensure ingredients in foods meet individual allergy and dietary requirements of all children.
- Contribute to and participate in team meetings.
- Cleaning kitchen to meet HSE requirements.
- Developing menus as part of a small team in line with nursery food standards.
- Maintaining accurate and effective records in line with Safe Food Better Business.
- Have a working knowledge of HACCP and COSHH regulations and guidelines (training will be given).
- Stock control and ordering.
