We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Site Engineer to join our Service team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working directly with customers, and making a tangible impact on operational performance.
Job Overview
As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving specialist equipment at customer sites. You will play a critical role in ensuring maximum machine availability, minimising downtime, and delivering exceptional service against agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
You will work closely with customers, colleagues, and technical specialists to diagnose faults, carry out preventative maintenance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Shift Pattern for this Role: 10:00am - 6:00PM + Shift Allowance
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Support
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults efficiently to minimise downtime.
- Deliver effective first-time fixes wherever possible.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer and company standards.
- Escalate complex or prolonged issues through agreed support channels.
- Support equipment refurbishment and lifecycle improvement initiatives.
- Assist with technical change requests and system improvements.
Customer Service
- Build strong working relationships with customer stakeholders.
- Deliver a professional, customer-focused service at all times.
- Attend customer meetings and provide technical input when required.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with contractual SLAs.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports, stock usage records, and other documentation.
- Support effective shift handovers by providing clear communication and updates.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles to required standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all CPS and customer health and safety procedures.
- Promote a safe working environment and immediately report hazards or incidents.
- Comply with company policies, quality standards, and engineering procedures.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and a professional working environment.
Teamwork & Development
- Collaborate with engineers, technical specialists, and service management teams.
- Share knowledge and best practice across the business.
- Participate in training, development, and performance review activities.
- Represent CPS professionally both internally and externally.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience working in a field service, site engineering, maintenance, or similar technical role.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working within customer-facing environments and service-level agreements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- PC literate (fully proficient with XP, MS Office, particularly Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook and comfortable working knowledge of PC hardware)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Electrical engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Experience supporting automated machinery, industrial equipment, or electromechanical systems.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance methodologies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting systems.
