The St Andrews Golf Club is one of the most prestigious in the world, with its inception in 1843. Today, it is still a private members' club and still has lots to offer the golfing world at large. It boasts over 2,250 members from all corners of the globe, and the clubhouse is the envy of many with its view over the 18th green of the Old Course. We are currently looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Retail Operations Assistant to join our team.
You will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and driving sales within our shop. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage the Club shop day-to-day while providing knowledgeable advice and support. You will also be expected to manage the e-commerce side of the Club and deliver an exceptional service to our 2,250 members, including 600 Overseas and 400 Country. You will also be expected to provide a welcoming environment, ensuring that all members feel valued and appreciated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock management, including receiving deliveries and replenishing shelves.
- Manage the e-commerce side of the business, including driving online sales, traffic, and revenue growth.
- Manage the digital storefront to optimize the user experience and bring new ideas to this side of the business.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Engaging with members to understand their needs and requirements.
- Demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Processing transactions and managing cash.
- Maintain an organised and clean sales floor, ensuring products are displayed correctly.
- Employ effective time management skills to balance multiple tasks during busy periods.
- Uphold high standards when handling customer inquiries.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve goals and enhance customer experience.
- Arrange meetings with suppliers for ordering and ensuring that you are kept up to date on new trends and products.
- Manage the purchasing, stock holding and organise and manage monthly stock takes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail and customer service is essential.
- Strong organisational skills to manage inventory and maintain store presentation.
- A proactive approach to selling and identifying opportunities for upselling products.
- Familiarity with retail operations and customer service best practices is essential.
- Ability to quickly identify new trends and members' needs.
- Previous experience in e-commerce.
- Proven ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and office management software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- A proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of the golf industry either through prior employment or playing the sport personally is preferred but not essential.
- A relevant qualification in retail is an advantage.

Salary: £26,500-£30,000, depending on experience.
