Retail Security Officer – Night Shifts
Location: Plymouth City Centre
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Job type: Full-time
Shift pattern: Four nights on, four nights off
We are looking for a professional and reliable Retail Security Officer to provide overnight security at a busy 24-hour retail store in Plymouth City Centre.
Working as part of the store team, you will help maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees throughout the night.
Working hours:
- Sunday to Thursday: 22:00–05:00
- Friday and Saturday: 23:00–07:00
- Four nights on, followed by four nights off
Key responsibilities:
- Providing a visible security presence throughout the store
- Monitoring customer activity and identifying suspicious behaviour
- Preventing theft, antisocial behaviour and other security incidents
- Conducting regular patrols of the store and surrounding areas
- Responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies
- Supporting store employees when dealing with challenging situations
- Completing accurate incident reports and security records
- Liaising with management, the control room and emergency services when required
- Delivering a professional and approachable customer service experience
Requirements:
- A valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence
- Previous retail security experience is desirable
- Strong communication and conflict-management skills
- A professional, calm and approachable manner
- Reliability and good timekeeping
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts
- Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays as part of the rota
