Gemini School of Dance was founded in 2008 by Jodie McRae and has since grown to a thriving school of over 200 students. Based across Greenhill, Bradway, Totley and Dore in Sheffield, we offer professional tuition in a wide range of dance styles, including Street Dance, Freestyle, Commercial, Lyrical, Pre-school Dance, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Modern Jazz, Acro, Ballet, Pointe and Tap.

The Role
We are seeking a passionate, reliable and enthusiastic Contemporary & Jazz Dance Teacher to join our team.
The successful candidate will teach children and young people across a range of ages and abilities, from Junior level through to Senior students aged up to 18 years old.
You will be teaching:
- Contemporary – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced
- Jazz – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced
We are looking for someone with a bubbly, positive personality who can build a great rapport with students and work collaboratively as part of our teaching team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance, excellent teaching technique and the ability to inspire, motivate and bring out the best in students of different ages and abilities.
This role is initially to cover existing classes, with the potential to develop into a longer-term position within our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver fun, engaging and progressive dance lessons
- Teach students from Junior through to Senior level (up to 18 years old)
- Adapt teaching methods to suit different ages, abilities and experience levels
- Maintain high teaching standards and support students in reaching their full potential
- Prepare and encourage students towards exam and competition readiness, where applicable
- Take and maintain accurate attendance registers
- Attend staff meetings, rehearsals and shows as required
- Provide your own music and any required teaching equipment
- Work collaboratively and professionally with the wider Gemini teaching team
- Promote and uphold our school's values of confidence, individuality and excellence
- Create a positive, inclusive and encouraging environment for all students
Essential Requirements
- Recognised dance teaching qualification(s)
- Proven experience teaching dance to children and young people
- Strong knowledge and experience in Contemporary and/or Jazz
- Enhanced DBS
- First Aid qualification
- Appropriate dance teacher insurance
- Reliable, responsible and punctual
- Confident teaching a range of ages and abilities
Desirable
- Ability to drive
- Willingness to attend and support shows, rehearsals and other school events
- Experience preparing students for performances, competitions and/or examinations
Job Details
Hours: Part-time, term time only (following Sheffield school term dates)
Monday: 4:45pm – 6:30pm
Thursday: 5:00pm – 6:45pm
There may be potential for additional teaching hours in the future.
Start Date: Week commencing 7th September
Contract: Self-employed basis
Pay: From £16.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Location: In person – Sheffield, S17 4QU
