Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant looking for a new opportunity in Reigate?
We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN LSA to join a welcoming specialist SEN school in Reigate (RH2). This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and looking to make a genuine difference to their education and development.
THE ROLE
As an SEN LSA, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence and build confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated and personalised activities.
- Assisting with communication, social and emotional development.
- Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils to regulate their emotions.
- Encouraging independence and developing pupils' confidence and life skills.
- Working closely with teachers and other members of the school's support team.
- Following individual support plans and contributing to pupils' progress.
- Creating a calm, safe and nurturing environment.
- Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunch and other school activities.
- Maintaining high safeguarding and professional standards at all times.
THE SCHOOL
The school is a specialist SEN setting that provides a supportive and structured environment for pupils with additional needs. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that every pupil receives the individualised support they need to thrive.
The school is looking for someone who is kind, consistent, resilient and genuinely passionate about working with children with SEN.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- Experience in a school, special school, care or support setting.
- A calm and patient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
- A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Experience with ASC, ADHD, PMLD, complex needs or challenging behaviour would be advantageous, although full training and support may be available depending on the setting.
