Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Butcher to join our team working Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production and culinary arts, with a keen understanding of food safety and preparation techniques. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meat products while ensuring adherence to hygiene standards and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cut various types of meat, including beef, pork, lamb, and poultry, according to specifications.
- Ensure all meat products are handled safely and stored at the correct temperatures to maintain freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the butcher area, adhering to EHO - health and safety regulations.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to fulfil meat orders for restaurant services efficiently.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering queries about meat products and offering recommendations.
- Perform regular equipment maintenance and ensure all tools are kept in good working condition.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Butcher or in a similar role within the restaurant or food production industry.
- Boning hall experience.
- Meat Factory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food preparation.
- Proficiency in using butchery tools and equipment safely.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A culinary qualification or relevant training is advantageous but not essential.
