Senior Healthcare Assistant (Days)

Hours: 20–40 hours per week (full-time and part-time available)
Shifts: Day shifts on a 7-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays

About Ashley Court
Ashley Court is a friendly 41 bed care home, specialising in residential and dementia care. Providing high quality, person centred care for older adults. We are looking for caring, reliable and compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join our day team as Senior Healthcare Assistant and shift leader.
This is a leadership role suited to an experienced carer who is confident leading a team, administering medication, updating care plans and liaising with visiting healthcare professionals. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the shift, in addition to delivering hands on care.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the Shift
- Lead and supervise the care team throughout each shift as shift leader
- Allocate duties and ensure high standards of care are maintained
- Support, guide and mentor Healthcare Assistants
- Act as the first point of contact for staff, residents and families during the shift
Care & Clinical
- Administer medication safely and accurately
- Update and review residents' care plans
- Monitor residents for changes in health or wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately
- Support residents with personal care, mobility and daily living where needed
Communication
- Liaise with GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Communicate effectively with residents, families and colleagues
- Attend and lead handovers, ensuring key information is passed on accurately
- Maintain accurate care documentation in line with regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience as a Senior Healthcare Assistant or Team Leader
- Experience administering medication
- Experience updating and reviewing care plans
- Experience supervising or leading a care team
- Good written and spoken English
- Right to work in the UK (we are not currently offering sponsorship)
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
- Experience supporting residents living with dementia
- Moving & Handling training
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
