Job Description - Production Operator – Powder Painter
Reports To: Charge-hand / Supervisor
Rotating shifts: Mon-Thu 1400-2300 with Fridays 1400-1800 and Mon-Fri 0600-1400. (may be subject to change to suit the needs of the business).
Job Summary
The Production Operator – Powder Painter is a hands-on role responsible for executing daily production operations in the Powder Paint Shop. The day-to-day duties may vary, from Powder Painting, to preparing materials with power tools, crane operation and loading/unloading parts.
Key elements are to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role requires wearing of protective overalls, gloves and airfed mask during painting, there will be manual lifting and moving parts and/or being on your feet for long periods, so all of this must pose no problems for the successful candidate. Duties may change over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out powder painting and associated production operations as required and operate all tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate forklift trucks/pallet trucks (when trained to do so) to move raw materials, finished products, pallets and waste materials.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
- Monitor product/raw material quality from other areas as you receive it and highlight any potential issues to your line manager.
- Maintain your own product quality and production output during operations.
- Help minimise downtime, waste, rework and production delays.
- Carry out routine equipment checks and basic machine adjustments as required.
- Report machinery faults, breakdowns, quality issues or safety concerns promptly and as per agreed procedures.
- Ensure work areas are maintained to agreed housekeeping and safety standards at all times.
- Complete production paperwork, quality checks, forklift inspections etc as required.
- Assist in training new operators when needed.
- Be proactive in the identification and implementation of improvement opportunities.
- Carry out any reasonable request made by your line manager.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- At least 6 months experience as a Powder Painter.
- Experience operating production machinery and equipment.
- Knowledge of processes involved in material preparation and typical quality standards.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices within a factory environment.
Preferred
- At least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility as a Powder Painter.

Working Conditions
- Shift work and overtime may be required depending on workload, so employees need to be flexible in their work hours, often at short notice.
- Exposure to machinery, dust, heat, noise and industrial materials (metals, lubricants etc).
- PPE such as steel-toed boots, eye protection, ear protection, gloves, overalls, hi-vis clothing and respiratory protection may be required to be worn depending on area of work.
