Approved Electrician (Operations & Maintenance) Job Description
Salary: £45,000 per annum plus overtime and standby
Location: London & Home Counties
Reports to: Head of Operations & Maintenance
Role Purpose
Premier Power Services (PPS) is seeking an experienced Approved Electrician to join our growing Operations & Maintenance team.
This is a field-based role responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive fault response, inspection, testing and fault finding across a range of electrical infrastructure. Working across commercial, industrial and utility environments, you will ensure electrical assets are maintained safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry standards whilst delivering an excellent service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
· Be able to respond to planned and reactive callouts and co-ordinate with internal systems
· Be self sufficient in acquiring small parts number and details.
· Capability at completing minor take offs and provide information relevant to allow quoting of future works.
· Complete testing digital for submittal to the LV Technical lead
· Report to Head of Operations and LV Technical lead in line with internal processed
· Under instruction of RAMs, ITP’s etc work under own initiative to resolve on-site issues of varying levels of complexity and report accordingly to client and internal partners.
· Take the lead on-site to run on-site works, instruct and monitor other PPS staff working under instruction.
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical installations and associated infrastructure.
- Attend reactive call-outs to diagnose faults and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
- Carry out repairs, replacements and remedial works as required.
- Ensure all works are completed within agreed service levels.
Inspection, Testing & Fault Finding
- Undertake electrical inspection, testing and fault finding on a variety of electrical installations.
- Complete electrical testing in accordance with BS 7671 and GN3.
- Produce accurate test results and certification where required.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment.
Electrical Works
- Carry out electrical maintenance, repairs and minor installation works.
- Replace electrical components, switchgear, distribution equipment and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure equipment is safely recommissioned following maintenance or repair.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship on every project.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations, BS 7671 and company procedures.
- Follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools and testing equipment in good working order.
Customer Service
- Represent Premier Power Services professionally at all times.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and site personnel.
- Provide clear communication regarding work completed and any follow-up actions required.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service on every visit.
Administration
- Complete digital job reports, maintenance records and test documentation.
- Record parts used, photographs and testing results accurately.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Support the maintenance of accurate asset and maintenance records.
Continuous Improvement
- Attend technical and manufacturer training where required.
- Keep up to date with changes to industry regulations and best practice.
- Support the continual improvement of operational processes and service delivery.
- Share technical knowledge and support colleagues where appropriate.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent, and AM2 Qualified.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- ECS Gold Card.
- Experience carrying out electrical maintenance, inspection, testing and fault finding.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within Operations & Maintenance environments.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial or utility electrical systems.
- IPAF.
- PASMA.
- First Aid at Work.
- Experience of standby or emergency response maintenance.
