Outsourcing Assistant
Full Time – 41.5 Hour Basic Week
Salary – Competitive / Negotiable dependent upon experience
A leader within the UK construction market offering bespoke joinery solutions for Commercial, Residential and Specialist projects, we are looking for an innovative and passionate individual to support our Outsourcing Manager strengthen TMJ Interiors’ supply network.
This is a dynamic role assisting with the coordination and administration of outsourced manufacturing projects and supplier relationships. You will support the monitoring of Supply Partner performance, quality and compliance against company standards, ensuring cost-effective solutions are identified and delivered to meet business requirements and maximise profitability.
The role is predominantly based at our Bildeston Head Office, with regular travel to client and project locations as business needs dictate, including occasional short-notice visits.
Alongside the Outsourcing Manager, you will work closely with other key departments, including our Project Teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the Outsourcing Manager in identifying potential suppliers to strengthen and expand the TMJ Supply Partner network.
- Maintain accurate records and directories of Supply Partners, including their key competencies and capabilities.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with our Supply Partners.
- Liaise with the Programming Team to identify subcontract opportunities and capacity requirements.
- Support the sourcing of subcontractor capacity and assist in identifying opportunities to maximise available capacity.
- Prepare and issue supplier enquiry packages and requests for quotation.
- Assist Surveyors with the analysis and comparison of supplier quotations.
- Assist in implementing initiatives and improvement plans to enhance supplier performance.
- Support the development of relationships with our Supply Partners – who will be within a 75-mile radius wherever practical, contributing to the Company's carbon reduction objectives.
- Assist with the preparation, submission and review of tenders for subcontract work.
- Conduct regular supplier visits, including to complete QA sign offs
- Maintain a library of Supply Partner working practices, capabilities, and technical information to support the Outsourcing Manager to implement and maximise efficiency and quality standards.
Necessary Skills and Competencies:
- Joinery industry experience with strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, quality standards, and project delivery.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise multiple workloads and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to develop effective partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- A commitment and drive to deliver continuous improvement in process and standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Skills and Competencies:
- Experience in fire door procurement, outsourced manufacturing, or subcontract supply chain environments.
- Background in supplier relationship management, purchasing, procurement, or a similar supplier-facing role.
- Good commercial awareness and numerical ability, capable of evaluating quotations, analysing costs, and supporting value-driven decisions.
- Experienced in obtaining, reviewing, and comparing supplier quotations and tender submissions.
- Sound understanding of supplier performance management, capacity planning, or subcontract manufacturing processes.
