Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Private Tutor to provide personalised educational support to students across various age groups and subjects. The successful candidate will work closely with learners to enhance their understanding, confidence, and academic performance. Duties
- Ability to teach two subjects up to GCSE level, or
- Teach one subject up to GCSE level and two subjects up to Key Stage 3 level, or
- Native speakers can teach their native language up to GCSE, requiring one additional GCSE subject or two additional subjects being taught up to KS3.
- Deliver customised tutoring sessions in designated subjects, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
- Assess students’ current knowledge levels and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop personalised lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and student needs.
- Monitor progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and, where appropriate, to parents or guardians.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and independent thinking.
- Utilise various teaching resources and techniques to maintain student engagement and motivation.
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress reports, and lesson plans for organisational purposes.
Essential Requirements
- Must hold a bachelor’s qualification or higher in the elected GCSE subject(s)
- A level (or equivalent) qualification in the subjects being taught up to KS3
- Native speakers teaching their native language up to GCSE must hold an A level (or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year full time (or part time equivalent) experience in tutoring/teaching
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Strong organisational skills to plan effective lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Passion for education and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different student requirements
- Must be flexible and adaptable with working pattern
Desirable Criteria
- Master’s or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
- Familiarity with GCSE examination boards
- Knowledge of special education needs and strategies for supporting diverse learning requirements is desirable
Working Pattern
- Shift/Rota based, Monday to Sunday 9.30am - 8.45pm

- An Enhanced DBS check will be required prior to appointment
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Graduate
Pay: £17.50-£21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
