About the Role
As Advocacy Manager, you will oversee day‑to‑day delivery of our statutory and non-statutory advocacy services, including the Halton Advocacy Hub and NHS Independent Complaints Advocacy (ICAS) in Warrington.
You’ll lead and support a talented team of advocates, ensure operational excellence, manage referrals and caseloads, and maintain strong partnerships across health, social care, and community sectors.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining service management with a reduced personal caseload.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and supervising a multi‑site team of advocates through 1:1s, appraisals & professional development
- Overseeing referral pathways, triage and allocation of cases
- Ensuring service quality, KPI performance and contract compliance
- Acting as operational safeguarding lead for advocacy
- Building relationships with stakeholders and developing local engagement plans
- Managing accurate case records and leading improvements in CRM and data systems
- Supporting the CEO with contract monitoring, reporting and business development
- Delivering a reduced caseload using instructed & non‑instructed advocacy approaches
- Promoting the Halton Advocacy Hub across statutory, voluntary & community networks
About You
Essential:
- Qualification in Advocacy (NVQ Level 4 Diploma) – including Units 401, 402 and 403 plus specialist Units 404, 405 and 406 and RPR accreditation – if a candidate does not have all the required units but are willing to achieve this qualification within 12 months they may be considered for the role dependent on experience.
- Strong understanding of advocacy principles and relevant legislation (IMCA, IMHA, DOLS, RPR, Care Act, NHS Complaints)
- At least 1 year’s experience supervising a statutory advocacy service
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
- Confidence managing risk, delivering supervision, and supporting a dispersed team
- Ability to build relationships across sectors
- Strong IT skills, including case recording
- Full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel across Halton & Warrington
- Residence within or close to the contract area.
Desirable:
- Advocacy Management Module
- Experience in NHS Complaints Advocacy
- Project management experience
- Experience working with volunteers or in the voluntary sector
- Knowledge of local authority and NHS structures.
