Coldtech Services in Bristol is hiring a Senior Bookkeeper or Part-Qualified Management accountant to join its leadership team. This hands-on role suits someone with SME experience who can streamline processes, improve profitability, and manage finances proactively. Key Responsibilities
· Manage day-to-day bookkeeping duties, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
· Support the MD and senior team with profitability reviews, job costing, margin analysis, and pricing decisions.
· Provide financial insight into operational performance, identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction.
· Process weekly and monthly payroll, maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
· Oversee cashflow forecasting, banking transactions, reconciliations, invoicing and payments to HMRC, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
· Handle credit checks and analyse public information about customers to assess financial risk and opportunities.
· Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting, contributing to strategic financial planning.
· Support long-term financial projects while meeting deadlines through effective prioritisation and time management.
· Provide insightful financial advice and reports to management, helping guide decision-making and improve profitability.
· Play a key role in managing working capital and implementing initiatives to strengthen financial performance.
· Identify opportunities to improve and innovate processes, enhancing workflow and efficiency throughout the finance function.
· Continuously improve the work environment and proactively seek areas for process improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Solution-oriented problem solver with a can-do attitude.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, with recognised qualifications in bookkeeping.
- Strong experience in accounting software (Xero) and payroll management.
- Solid understanding of banking operations and payments to HMRC.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work on long-term projects with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Reliable, service-oriented, and friendly, with a focus on building strong working relationships across the business.
- Ability to analyse and interpret financial data, including credit checks and company reports.
- AAT Level 4, Diploma in Accounting
- Xero Advisor Certificatio, if possible
- 5 Years plus experience work in a finance management role or similar
