Job Description:
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and supporting infrastructure solutions for our client base in and around the West Midlands. Working closely with the service desk and wider technical team, you will provide high-level technical expertise, resolve complex infrastructure issues, and help ensure the reliability and security of client environments. This role suits someone with solid infrastructure experience who thrives on variety, enjoys client-facing work, and wants to keep developing their technical skillset within a growing MSP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure infrastructure solutions
- Monitor and maintain network and server performance, ensuring system availability and reliability
- Provide high level technical support and advice to the service desk when required
- Implement and manage cloud-based infrastructure services
- Automate infrastructure tasks using scripting languages
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in a timely manner
- Maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations and procedures
- Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 or more years’ experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role, ideally within an MSP environment
- Knowledge of firewalls, switches, routers, servers, cyber security applications, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving network issues, including wireless infrastructure
- Strong technical expertise across hardware, software, and networking concepts
- Experience with Windows Server and Windows Desktop Operating Systems
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams
- Proven track record of working independently and thinking critically to solve complex problems
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites across the United Kingdom when required
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom
Desirable Skills:
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+)
- Experience with vendors such as WatchGuard, Ubiquiti, Microsoft, Acronis, Cambium, Mikrotik
- Experience in a customer-facing role, demonstrating strong client relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and practices to streamline service delivery processes.
- Previous experience in an MSP, managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
