We are looking for a part-time experienced Chef to join our busy kitchen at The Fleece Inn, Haworth & work with our small enthusiastic team.
A traditional pub on the famous Main Street in the middle of the village, a busy choice for drinking & eating as well as having 10 letting bedrooms.
We have the full range of Timothy Taylors cask ales, with a home-cooked menu of freshly prepared classic dishes supported by specials of the chefs choice.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent understanding of food hygiene & food safety, able to support the owner in maintaining the high standards in place.
- Excellent cooking skills - of course - to deliver existing menus, create specials & communicate dish specifications, cooking of menu items & new dishes to staff
- Involvement in daily operations in the kitchen, paperwork, standards, specials, ordering of stock, staff rotas
- The ability to consistently produce top quality dishes even under pressure & still enjoy the fast pace of a kitchen
- The ability to deliver required Gross Profit across seasonal menu changes & daily specials plus be able to create an appropriate menu
- Previous experience in a similar environment or be ready to step up to this role with training - apprenticeship considered if appropriate
Responsibilities of the job will include:
- Ensuring all food is produced in a timely efficient manner meeting the standards of taste, quality & presentation required
- General kitchen operations & helping the kitchen team
- Maintaining the profit margins on food through effective costings, portion control & minimising of wastage
- Motivating, training, developing & assisting kitchen members to confidently deliver the required standards
- Have the ability to produce appropriate menus & dishes to a high standard at all times
- Confidence in control systems including food safety & allergens, and completion of all daily, weekly & monthly checks as required.
The successful person will be rewarded with a good salary depending on experience, plus a share of tips & discounts on food & drinks
Shift patterns will be dictated by the needs of the business & be spread over 3 days, will include evenings & weekends as standard but no split shifts.
