Senior Interior Designer - Job Description
We are looking to recruit an experienced and talented Senior Interior Designer to join our growing team at Harriet Hughes Interior Design, based in Knutsford, Cheshire.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and highly organised designer with a strong eye for detail and a passion for creating beautiful, timeless interiors. The successful candidate will have experience managing high-end residential projects and be confident taking projects from initial concept through to completion.

Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage interior design projects from initial concept through to installation and completion
- Develop creative concepts, space planning and detailed design schemes
- Produce and oversee technical drawing packages, including layouts, elevations, joinery and bespoke furniture drawings
- Prepare and present polished client presentations, mood boards and material schemes
- Manage FF&E specifications, sourcing and procurement across multiple projects
- Select and specify furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting, ironmongery and accessories
- Liaise confidently with clients, architects, contractors, joiners, suppliers and other third parties
- Attend and lead client, supplier and site meetings
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, quotations and procurement to ensure projects remain on programme
- Carry out regular site visits and oversee the implementation of designs
- Review samples, finishes and supplier submissions to ensure they meet the required design and quality standards
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines
- Support and mentor junior members of the design team
- Assist with installations, styling and final project completion
- Work closely with the wider HHID team to maintain the studio's high standards across every stage of a project
Skills & Experience
- A minimum of 5 years' professional interior design experience, ideally within high-end residential interiors
- A strong portfolio demonstrating experience across all stages of the design process
- Excellent creative and conceptual design skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to independently manage projects from concept through to completion
- Strong technical drawing and space-planning ability
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite. Programa is beneficial.
- Confident producing detailed drawing packages for contractors, joiners and specialist suppliers
- Strong knowledge of FF&E, materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and bespoke joinery
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Confident managing contractors, suppliers and other third parties
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project budgets and procurement
- Hand-sketching and visualisation skills would be advantageous
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related discipline preferred
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client properties and project sites
