Enterprise Risk Consultant (3-4 days per week, 6 Month FTC)
£40,000 - £50,000 FTE
Remote Working (with occasional travel to Glasgow preferred)
We're looking for an experienced Enterprise Risk professional to join us on a part-time, 6-month fixed-term contract to support a significant transformation programme as Scottish Friendly and OneFamily come together to create a unified future-state organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, governance structure and risk operating model of the merged business.
Working closely with senior risk leaders across both organisations, you'll help design, document and implement the future-state ERM approach, ensuring the new organisation is supported by clear, effective and proportionate risk management practices.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of the Meridian Project Risk Workstream, you'll work directly with the Heads of ERM to help define and document the future Enterprise Risk Management framework for the merged OneFamily entity.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and comparing existing ERM frameworks, policies, processes and governance arrangements across both organisations.
- Identifying areas of alignment, duplication, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting the design and documentation of future-state ERM processes, governance structures and decision-making frameworks.
- Developing and drafting risk appetite statements, risk framework documentation and supporting governance policies.
- Creating high-quality briefing papers and presentation materials to support stakeholder engagement, review and approval processes.
- Producing draft risk management policies across a broad range of risk categories.
- Supporting collaboration with business risk owners and stakeholders to finalise future-state policy documentation.
- Designing process maps, guidance materials and training documentation to support implementation.
- Developing practical tools, templates and supporting materials to embed risk management activities across the first line of defence.
- Reviewing and updating governance documentation to ensure consistency across the merged organisation.
- Supporting reviews of material controls and control frameworks to ensure they remain fit for purpose within the future operating model.
- Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across risk, governance and business functions.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical risk expertise with excellent documentation, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
You'll be comfortable working independently, navigating complexity and translating ideas into clear and practical outputs.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience within Enterprise Risk Management in Financial Services.
- Experience gained within Insurance, Investments, Wealth, Life or Pensions environments.

- Experience producing high-quality board, committee or executive-level documentation and presentations.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working within evolving business, regulatory or transformation environments.
- A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to work independently.
