Brewery Assistant – Water Treatment & UtilitiesPosition Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Brewery Assistant to support brewery operations with a primary focus on water treatment and utility systems. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and assisting with the operation of the brewery's water treatment processes to ensure water quality meets production specifications. The successful candidate will work closely with the brewing and maintenance teams to support efficient, safe, and compliant brewery operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesWater Treatment Operations
- Monitor and operate water treatment equipment, including filtration, reverse osmosis, softening, carbon filtration, UV treatment, and chemical dosing systems as applicable.
- Perform routine water quality testing and record results accurately.
- Monitor system performance and identify deviations from established parameters.
- Assist with maintenance, cleaning, and sanitization of water treatment equipment.
- Manage chemical inventories and safely handle treatment chemicals according to established procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of water usage, treatment data, and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot minor operational issues and report significant concerns to supervisors.
Brewery Support
- Assist brewers with production-related tasks as required.
- Support cleaning and sanitation activities throughout the brewery.
- Help maintain utility systems and production areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs and equipment inspections.
- Support grain handling, packaging, cellar work, and other brewery operations when needed.
Quality & Safety
- Follow all brewery safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to food safety, quality assurance, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to water usage, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns promptly.
QualificationsRequired
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work safely around chemicals and industrial equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to lift up to 50 kg (110 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or shift work.
Preferred
- Previous experience in brewing, food and beverage manufacturing, water treatment, utilities, or industrial operations.
- Knowledge of water chemistry and water treatment processes.
- Experience with pumps, valves, filtration systems, and process equipment.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Relevant technical or vocational training.

Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and production environment with exposure to water, chemicals, cleaning agents, noise, and varying temperatures.

Reporting Structure
Reports to: Head Brewer / Brewery Operations Manager (as applicable)
Pay: £12.71 per hour
