We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Primary School Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all areas of the school are hygienic and well-maintained, contributing to a positive learning atmosphere. Previous experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial roles is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to work within a supportive educational setting, promoting cleanliness and safety for the school community.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties across classrooms, hallways, toilets, and communal areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ensure all surfaces are sanitised and free of dust, dirt, and debris to meet health and safety standards
- Maintain toilet facilities by replenishing supplies such as soap and paper towels and ensuring they are hygienic at all times
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure bins are emptied regularly
- Clean windows, doors, and other fixtures as required to uphold the school's cleanliness standards
- Follow health and safety procedures during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents or injuries
- Report any maintenance issues or damages to the appropriate personnel promptly
- Adhere to school policies regarding the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
Requirements
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work efficiently within a busy school environment while adhering to health and safety regulations
- Flexibility to adapt to the school's cleaning schedule, which may include early mornings or after-hours shifts if required
