An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join our Lowestoft-based team, managing a varied portfolio of offshore renewables projects from initial enquiry through to successful delivery.
The role
The Project Manager will be responsible for the quotation, planning, management and delivery of onshore and offshore renewable-energy projects.
Working closely with clients, technicians, suppliers, subcontractors and RMi’s internal departments, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and in accordance with agreed client requirements.
You will manage projects from initial enquiry and quotation through mobilisation, offshore delivery, reporting, invoicing and commercial close-out.
The role reflects RMi’s requirement for the Project Manager to manage both onshore and offshore projects, including quotations, delivery, compliance and the continued development of internal processes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage renewable-energy projects from initial client enquiry through to completion.
- Prepare and support quotations, tenders and commercial proposals.
- Develop project plans, programmes, mobilisation schedules and resource requirements.
- Act as a principal point of contact for clients throughout project delivery.
- Coordinate offshore and onshore technicians, subcontractors, equipment, vessels, travel and project logistics.
- Ensure suitably competent personnel are available to support each project.
- Monitor and report project costs, progress, milestones and commercial performance.
- Identify, assess and manage project risks, constraints and opportunities.
- Manage changes in scope, project variations and additional client requirements.
- Coordinate procurement, supplier requirements and project cost reconciliation.
- Prepare, review and control project documentation, including RAMS, work packs, technical reports and completion documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with RMi’s quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Chair or attend client meetings, progress meetings and internal operational meetings.
- Produce clear internal and external project reports.
- Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for further work.
- Work closely with RMi’s Technical, QHSE, Tendering, Commercial, Finance, Planning and HR functions.
- Support the continued improvement of RMi’s project-management systems and processes.
About you
You will be an organised, commercially aware and solutions-focused Project Manager who is comfortable working in a fast-moving operational environment.
You should be able to manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining control of safety, quality, cost, programme, resources and client expectations.
Essential experience and attributes
- Previous experience managing projects within offshore wind, renewables, marine engineering, oil and gas or a similarly regulated technical sector.
- Demonstrable experience managing project scope, programme, cost, quality, risk and resources.
- Experience coordinating field-based or offshore personnel.
- Strong commercial awareness, including quotations, procurement, budgets and variations.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Confident communicating with clients, technicians, suppliers and senior management.
- Able to prepare and review professional project and operational documentation.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Proactive, adaptable and solution-orientated.
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team
Desirable qualifications and experience
- Engineering, operations or project-management Experience.
- Experience working within offshore wind operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with RAMS, work packs, lift plans, inspection reports and technical documentation.
- Experience managing technicians, subcontractors and offshore mobilisations.
- Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER or lifting-equipment inspection activities.
- Experience using project-planning, financial or asset-management systems.
Working arrangements
The role will be primarily based full time at RMi’s Lowestoft office.
Regular communication with offshore personnel and clients will be required, together with occasional travel to client offices, ports, mobilisation locations and operational sites. Offshore attendance may also be required depending on project needs and the successful candidate’s experience and certification.
