Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and technically capable Internal Systems Administrator to support and help develop the firm’s IT systems, infrastructure, and operational processes across multiple office locations.
This is a hands-on role focused on day-to-day systems administration, user support, coordination with external IT providers, and continuous improvement of internal systems and processes.
The successful candidate will act as an internal technical point of contact for the business, helping to improve operational efficiency, user experience, resilience, and security across the firm.
This role is intended to work alongside the firm’s external IT support providers and specialist partners, rather than replace them entirely.
Previous experience within an accountancy practice or professional services environment would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Administration & User Support
- Provide day-to-day support for users across multiple office locations.
- Support and administer the firm’s Microsoft 365 environment, including:
- Outlook
- Teams
- SharePoint
- OneDrive
- Exchange Online
- Entra ID / Azure AD
- Assist with user account management, permissions, onboarding, and device setup.
- Support desktop, laptop, mobile device, printer, and peripheral troubleshooting.
- Assist with maintaining documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
Infrastructure & Operational Support
- Assist with administration and monitoring of:
- Windows Server environments
- Active Directory
- Remote desktop / terminal server environments
- Backup and recovery systems
- Network infrastructure
- Work alongside external IT providers on escalated support issues, upgrades, maintenance, and projects.
- Help coordinate software deployments, updates, patching, and system improvements.
- Support internal Linux-based systems and Docker/container-hosted applications where required.
Security & Compliance Support
- Help maintain and improve good IT security practices across the business.
- Assist with:
- Multi-factor authentication
- Endpoint protection
- User access controls
- Device security
- Backup and recovery procedures
- Support the firm’s compliance with GDPR, internal data protection procedures, and cybersecurity policies.
- Assist with IT-related documentation and operational processes relating to Cyber Essentials and security best practice.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Assist with reporting, data handling, and system integrations where required.
- Provide basic support for SQL-based systems and reporting tools.
- Work with internal teams to improve workflows and operational processes.
- Liaise with third-party software providers and support teams where required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
- Good understanding of:
- Windows desktop environments
- Windows Server
- Active Directory
- Basic networking principles
- Endpoint and device support
- Experience supporting users within a multi-site business environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within an accountancy practice or professional services firm.
- Experience with:
- Azure / Entra ID
- SharePoint administration
- Intune
- SQL Server
- PowerShell scripting
- Linux server administration
- Docker/container environments
- Backup and disaster recovery systems
- Cyber Essentials or cybersecurity frameworks
- Experience working alongside outsourced IT providers and third-party software vendors.

Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to:
- Improve internal ownership of day-to-day IT systems and processes.
- Reduce reliance on external IT support for routine operational matters.
- Improve responsiveness and continuity for staff.
- Support the firm’s ongoing operational and technology improvements.
- Act as a bridge between staff, management, and external IT providers.
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
