Working across accredited qualifications, executive coaching and leadership development, we're building a finance function that supports ambitious growth through robust reporting, strong controls and commercial insight.
Working alongside the CFO, this role will become the operational heartbeat of the finance function, taking ownership of day-to-day financial operations whilst helping build scalable processes to support continued growth.
Areas of responsibility
Purchase ledger including processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements, preparing payment runs, resolving queries and maintaining supplier records.
Sales ledger including raising invoices, allocating payments, maintaining customer accounts and supporting credit control.
Daily bank reconciliations across all business accounts.
Credit card and expense reconciliations.
Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records and ensuring transactions are correctly coded.
Supporting cashflow management and maintaining accurate information around expected receipts and payments.
Supporting month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
Preparing information and working papers required for management accounts.
Payroll administration and preparation of monthly payroll information.
Pension administration and employee expense processing.
Maintaining the finance inbox and ensuring financial queries from employees, customers and suppliers are dealt with promptly.
Maintaining accurate debtor and creditor information.
Supporting VAT returns and other statutory finance requirements.
Supporting year-end accounts and audit requirements.
Producing regular finance reports as required.
Identifying and implementing improvements to finance processes and controls.
Systems
Xero, HubSpot, Excel, AI tools to improve finance processes
Person Specification
AAT Level 4 qualified – essential.
Ideally 3+ years’ experience working within a finance function, preferably within an SME environment.
Strong practical bookkeeping experience.
Excellent understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations.
Experience supporting month-end processes.
Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP and SUMIFS
Experience using Xero accounting software
Extremely organised with excellent attention to detail.
Strong communicator who is comfortable dealing directly with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
Proactive and accountable – someone who sees something that needs doing and gets it done rather than waiting to be asked.
Comfortable operating within a fast-moving and growing business.
What success looks like after 12 months
Financial records are accurate and always up to date.
Bank reconciliations are completed daily.
Purchase and sales ledgers are fully controlled.
Month-end is delivered accurately and on time.
Debtors are actively managed, improving cash collection.
Finance queries receive prompt, professional responses.
Finance processes are continually improved through automation and better controls.
The CFO is able to focus on forecasting, commercial decision-making, reporting and strategic projects because the day-to-day finance operation runs efficiently.
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
