Design Junction is looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on individual to join our team as a Weekend pottery workshop host. We’re looking for someone with a spark for creativity to run our popular miniature throwing classes and assist with our weekend throwing workshops, ensuring every customer leaves with a smile (and a masterpiece!).
This role is perfect for a practicing artist, a student, or a pottery enthusiast who loves interacting with people and wants to be part of a vibrant studio environment.
The Role
You will be the face of our weekend workshops, guiding customers through the creative process. Whether you are teaching a beginner how to throw a miniature pot or helping beginners on the wheel, your goal is to make the experience fun and accessible. Behind the scenes, you will help keep the studio running smoothly by helping with studio jobs such as kiln loading and tidying.
Key Responsibilities
- Host Engaging Workshops: Lead our miniature throwing sessions and assist in throwing workshops with energy and patience.
- Customer Support: Offer guidance, tips, and encouragement to customers of all skill levels.
- Studio Operations: Assist with general studio upkeep to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Technical Duties: Responsible for mixing glazes and managing the weekend kiln schedule (loading and unloading).
- Assist the team with holidays.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings good vibes and creative flair. You must have:
- A Passion for Creativity: You love making things and appreciate the artistic process.
- Strong Communication Skills: You are confident speaking to groups and can explain techniques clearly to beginners.
- Reliability: You are punctual and organized.
- Knowledge in Throwing or previous experience.
- Weekend Availability: You must be available to work every weekend.
The Schedule
- This is a fixed weekend position.
- Saturday: 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM
