Job Title: Support Worker – Adult Car
Reports To: Senior Support Worker / Team Leader / Registered Manager
Hours: Part-Time
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to adults, enabling them to live as independently as possible while promoting dignity, choice, rights, and wellbeing. The Support Worker will assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, emotional support, and community participation in accordance with individual care plans and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centred support tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals.
- Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and continence care where required.
- Support individuals with mobility, transfers, and the safe use of equipment in accordance with moving and handling procedures.
- Assist with meal planning, food preparation, and support with eating and drinking where necessary.
- Prompt or assist with medication in line with organisational policy and training.
- Encourage and support individuals to develop and maintain independent living skills.
- Promote social inclusion by supporting individuals to access education, employment, leisure activities, appointments, and community services.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with individuals, their families, advocates, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of care provided, incidents, and observations.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults by recognising, reporting, and responding appropriately to any concerns regarding abuse or neglect.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, infection prevention and control measures, and risk assessments.
- Respond calmly and professionally during emergencies or challenging situations.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training to maintain professional competence.

- Previous experience in health and social care.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or willingness to work towards one).
- Knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care, and equality legislation.
- Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).

Working Conditions
- Working in residential care homes, supported living services, community settings, or individuals’ own homes.
- Shift work, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and public holidays where required.

- Compliance with infection prevention and control procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
