Essex Respite & Care Association is a compassionate, community-based charity delivering high-quality mental health support across Essex. We are currently seeking bank and part-time Male Mental Health Support Workers to join our friendly and dedicated team in West Essex.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of adult male service users living with a range of mental health challenges, including Dementia, Parkinson’s disease, brain injuries, and neurodivergence.
Please note: This role involves supporting male service users. Being male is considered a Genuine Occupational Requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
About the Role
You will provide one-to-one, person-centred support to adult male service users in their homes and within the community. Your role will focus on promoting independence, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
Typical activities include:
- Supporting individuals to attend community activities, sports, crafts, and social groups
- Assisting with shopping and everyday tasks
- Accompanying service users to medical or therapy appointments
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and skill development
- Delivering tailored support based on individual needs
Note: This role does not involve personal care or medication administration.

Previous experience in mental health or support work is desirable.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be male (Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010)
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across South & Mid Essex
- Have business-use insurance
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Be available Monday - Friday.
