JOB DESCRIPTION – Manufacturing Team Leader
The Manufacturing Team leader plays a hands-on role in leading the team on shift, coordinating day-to-day operations, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and helping ensure production targets are consistently achieved across all production lines.
This role will be 4 on 4 off (2x 7am-7pm followed by 2x 7pm-7am).
Employment is on the basis of a clear DBS check.
The tasks of a Manufacturing Team Leader are :-
· Following instructions and direction provided by the Shift Manager and ensure these are effectively communicated to the production team.
· Lead and coordinate production activities across the allocated canning, bottling and repack lines.
· Ensure production targets and efficient requirements are achieved in lines with the production plan.
· Allocate employees effectively across all production lines and work areas to maximise productivity and maintain operational efficiency.
· Rotate employees between tasks and production areas to support effective cross-training and maintain flexibility within the workforce.
· Monitor production performance and take appropriate action to minimise downtime, delays, waste and inefficiencies.
· Ensure production activities are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures, specifications and quality standards.
· Support the team during changeovers, product changes, line start-ups, shutdowns and production stoppages.
· In the event of a production stoppage, effectively utilise available staff by allocating them to appropriate cleaning, housekeeping, preparation, or other production activities.
· Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and increase overall line performance.
· Ensure all finished products meet the required quality and product specifications.
· Ensure Critical Control Points (CCPs) are monitored and recorded in accordance with company procedures.
· Immediately report any quality, food safety, product, packaging or process issues.
· Work closely with the technical department to ensure full compliance across all operations.
· Promote positive working relationships and encourage effective communication and teamwork.
· Allocate tasks according to production requirements, employee capability and operational priorities.
· Ensure employees follow all relevant Health and Safety requirements when carrying out duties.
· Take appropriate action to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of team members.
· Provide effective support to the Shift Manager during absences.

Qualifications
Essential
· GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
· Previous FMCG supervision or leadership experience.
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
· Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a production team.
· Full rights to work in the UK.
· Committed to achieve production targets.
Desirable
· Experience in the food/drinks/chemical/pharmaceutical industry.
· Lean manufacturing certification.
· Experience working in a co-packing or contract manufacturing environment.
The Manufacturing Team Leader is accountable to the Shift Manager. When absent from work, cover will be provided by a designated member of staff.
