HLTA – English (Secondary Autism ARP)

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our Secondary School Autism Resource Provision (ARP).
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by delivering high-quality English lessons to small groups of autistic students in a supportive and inclusive environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver English lessons to groups of 8–10 students within our Secondary Autism ARP.
- Teach across a broad range of abilities, from Reception-level learning through to GCSE English.
- Adapt and personalise existing lesson plans to meet the individual needs of autistic learners.
- Prepare engaging resources to support learning, with dedicated planning and preparation time provided.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider SEND team to ensure students achieve their full potential.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Experience of working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly autism.
- A strong understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
- A good knowledge and understanding of phonics and its role in supporting literacy development.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for helping students develop confidence and achieve success in English.
A degree in English (or a closely related subject) is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.
