Stirling Council seeks to appoint a highly motivated and talented professional to lead Balfron Primary School. Balfron Primary School is a rural school serving the village of Balfron and surrounding area, situated at the heart of the village, the school shares a campus with Balfron High School. The school benefits from extensive grounds which enhance learning, play and wellbeing opportunities for our children. The school roll varies and is predicted for 2026/27 to be around 180 pupils within 9 classes, two of which are nursery.
As Headteacher of Balfron Primary and Nursery you will provide strategic direction and support to both school and nursery. The nursery team work effectively and increasingly independently to support early year’s development reporting on progress and planning for improvement. The school and nursery teams work collectively, committed to the continuous improvement of the school – primary and nursery.
Learning experiences are motivating and engaging, and outdoor learning is embraced. The primary school is associated with Balfron High School and is part of the Balfron Learning Community.
This is an exciting opportunity requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge of current educational developments. Applicants must have achieved the Standard for Headship or equivalent, awarded by the General Teaching Council for Scotland or have held a permanent appointment as a headteacher of a public school, a grant-aided school or an independent school on or before 1 August 2020 in order to be appointed permanently to this post.
