About the Role
We are looking for experienced Support Workers (preferably with experience supporting with drug & alcohol abuse) to join a network of leading care providers in Burton on Trent on an ongoing agency schedule. In this rewarding role, you will support individuals with a range of needs, helping them to live independently, safely, and with dignity. You will play a key part in promoting choice, inclusion, and wellbeing while providing person-centred support tailored to each individual’s needs.
Your responsibilities will include
- Supporting individuals with daily living tasks and routines
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and behaviours that may challenge
- Managing challenging behaviours in a calm, safe, and professional manner
- Promoting independence and encouraging service users to achieve personal goals
- Supporting individuals in the community, including appointments and social activities
- Assisting with meal preparation and household tasks
- Providing emotional support and companionship
- Maintaining accurate care records and reporting any concerns
- Supporting individuals with medication where trained and required
- Following care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments
- Ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive environment
- Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, families, and other support staff
- Adhering to safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality policies
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a support work or care setting
- Experience supporting with drug & alcohol abuse
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, complex needs, or behaviours that may challenge
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour in a safe and professional manner
- A caring, compassionate, and empathetic attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach, sensitive to the needs of service users
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records
- Medication training is beneficial but not essential
- PMVA/MAPA training is beneficial but not essential
- A valid UK driving licence is preferred as you may be expected to travel between different care clients and community settings
