Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty items with precision and artistry
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene in all food preparation areas
- Select fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality and flavor
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Innovate new sushi recipes and presentation techniques to keep offerings exciting and appealing
- Monitor inventory levels of seafood, rice, seaweed, and other ingredients; communicate needs for restocking
- Educate junior staff on sushi techniques, safety protocols, and presentation standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong knife skills with the ability to handle delicate fish and produce precise cuts
- Knowledge of Japanese culinary traditions, ingredients, and food safety regulations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude and strong communication abilities
- Certification in food safety or sanitation is preferred but not mandatory
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
