Harrowby Lodge Nursing Home is an independent care home with 26 beds, conveniently located near Grantham town centre. The Role:
We are looking for Cook / Assistant is responsible for ensuring high quality of food service and meal preparation within the home.
The Chef will lead and manage the catering team working closely with the other service teams ensuring the highest service standards are achieved.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare a list of items to be ordered on a weekly basis from the suppliers.
2. Overseeing and executing all elements of kitchen management, including menus, hygiene, health and safety, staff, cleanliness, and waste control.
3. Conducting weekly and monthly audits for the kitchen and reporting any discoveries to the home manager.
4. Formulating menus for the nursing home, factoring in content, balance, colour, nutritional values, and the agreed budget.
5. Regularly consulting with residents to ensure their preferences and choices are met.
6. Preparing specialized diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff.
7. Maintaining the approved food stock levels.
8. Implementing and maintaining a comprehensive deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen.
9. Cooperating with requests from the Home Manager and residents to the best of your ability.
10. Demonstrating the capacity to work independently.
11. Catering to specific dietary needs where necessary and considering the preferences of individual residents.
12. Fully complying with current Health & Safety and food & hygiene Legislation.
Skills/Qualifications
1. A minimum of 1 years' experience in cooking within a commercial kitchen or care setting, coupled with excellent communication skills.
2. GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
