Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Office Assistant to support our finance team. This role involves assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, managing data entry, and ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within our organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience with various accounting software and a strong understanding of accounts payable procedures. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within the financial services sector and contribute to the efficiency of our finance department. The position is initially on a Part-time basis with a view to going full time in the future, with hours/days negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Administration
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on discrepancies.
- Prepare bank deposits and support bank reconciliation processes.
- Assist with weekly and monthly financial reporting.
Data Entry & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records.
- Enter financial data into accounting software (Sage)
- Ensure document filing (digital or paper) is consistent and up to date.
General Office Support
- Respond to finance-related queries from suppliers, customers, and internal staff.
- Provide administrative support such as photocopying, scanning, and email handling.
- Assist in preparing documents for audits or internal reviews.
Compliance & Policies
- Follow company financial procedures and data protection policies.
- Support year-end and month-end processes as required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time‑management skills.
- Competent in MS Office (particularly Excel).
- Familiarity with Sage accounting software (advantageous but not essential).
- Strong communication skills—written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications & Experience:
- GCSEs/A‑Levels or equivalent; a qualification in accounting or business is a plus.
- Previous experience in an administrative or accounts role is desirable but not required.
- Willingness to learn and develop within the finance function.
