Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food preparation, and a solid background in kitchen operations. The Assistant Chef will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and assisting with food production to meet high-quality standards.
Duties
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations
- Oversee food safety procedures, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices
- Support the organisation of food production schedules to meet service times
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff and interns, fostering a positive team environment
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and fully stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes
- Serve as a point of contact for kitchen operations during shifts, maintaining smooth communication between team members
Requirements
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling
- Demonstrable supervisory or team management experience within a culinary context
- Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide kitchen staff effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and suppliers
- Previous experience in food production, hospitality, or serving roles is highly desirable
- A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning within the hospitality industry
Pay: From £600.00 per week
