Most care assistant roles promise "making a difference" and then leave you rushing 15-minute visits with no back-up. This one is different.
Visiting Angels Cheshire East is led by two doctors who have already built a well-established Visiting Angels service across Kirklees and Calderdale. They're now bringing that same model, and their hands-on support, to Cheshire East.
You'll join a team covering Macclesfield, Knutsford, Wilmslow, Congleton, Leek, Buxton and Whaley Bridge, with visit lengths that are properly funded rather than squeezed to the minimum.
Genuine occupational requirement: this role is open to female applicants only. Many of our clients receive intimate personal care and have asked for a female carer for these visits. Under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, being female is a genuine occupational requirement for this position.
What You'll Get
- £15.70 an hour for time with clients. Travel time between visits is paid separately on top of this rate.
- A dedicated Care Manager and regular team check-ins, so you're never managing on your own.
- Full training from day one, plus a funded route through your Care Certificate and ongoing qualifications.
- Protected learning time. Wednesday afternoons are set aside for training, team building, a book club, business education sessions and team-led projects.
- Wellbeing support through the AngelCare app: counselling, talking therapy, meditation, and access to a personal trainer and nutritionist.
- Your birthday off, on top of your normal holiday allowance.
- Paid mileage at 45p per mile.
- Low staff turnover. Around 9%, against a sector average of roughly 29%. We've also won a Best Employee Benefits Package award.
What You'll Do
- Visit clients in their own homes and help with things like washing, dressing, and personal care.
- Help with meals, medication, and the everyday jobs that keep someone comfortable and safe at home.
- Spend proper time with clients - a chat, a cup of tea, company - not just rush through a task list.
- Get to know your clients and their families so care feels familiar
- Work as part of a team with your Care Manager, so you're never sorting problems out alone.
What You'll Bring
- You don't need care experience. Plenty of our best carers came from retail, hospitality, cleaning, factory work, or just took time out for family - we'll train you either way.
- You need to be a decent, reliable person who can show up, be kind, and treat people with respect.
- A driving licence and your own car, since visits are spread across Macclesfield, Knutsford, Wilmslow, Congleton, Leek, Buxton and Whaley Bridge.
