Retail Assistant – Sodexo | Army HQ
We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our busy retail team. If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in delivering outstanding customer service, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll help create an excellent shopping experience for our customers while ensuring the retail area is clean, well-stocked, safe, and welcoming.
What You’ll Do:

Deliver exceptional customer service to every customer.

Operate tills, EPOS systems, card readers, and other retail equipment.

Handle cash, process transactions, and complete cashing-up procedures.
-
Replenish shelves and maintain stock levels.
-
Check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
-
Rotate stock and ensure products are within date.
-
Ensure shelves are fully stocked, correctly priced, and attractively merchandised.

Prepare and serve hot and cold food in line with food safety procedures.

Keep all retail and food preparation areas clean and tidy, following a "clean as you go" approach.

Report maintenance issues, health and safety concerns, or suspicious activity.

Build positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and clients.

Work independently or as part of a supportive team.

Attend team meetings and complete any required training.
What You Bring:
Essential
-
Excellent customer service skills.
-
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Good attention to detail.
-
Basic understanding of Health & Safety.

Ability to work in a busy environment while maintaining high standards.

Reliable, flexible, and a positive team player.

Must be 18 or over to sell restricted items
Desirable
-
Previous retail, hospitality, catering, or customer service experience.

Experience handling cash and operating tills.
-
Food preparation experience (training will be provided).
